Kookaburra Magic

Art Workshop

Creativity brings healing and balance

I love painting Birds. They are one of my favourite subjects to paint. Up until just recently though I had not painted a kookaburra.

I kept seeing them everywhere and decided to paint a pair as a demo for my Weekly Classes. They have become very popular with my students so I thought I would offer the technique as a weekend workshop.

ABOUT THE WORKSHOP

We will commence by creating an abstract background. Lots of paint play and drips and flicks makes the backdrop more interesting without trying to look “real”.

You can choose your own Kookaburra image and bring it along or follow my demo. I will have the images ready, so you can transfer them on to your canvas. Of course you can also draw them on yourself?

Also think about whether you would like Gumnut Flowers or just leaves to feature in your painting?

We will be painting on a 50cm x 60cm canvas.

You can choose one or two birds. Add flowers or not? Its all optional. I will have images but if you have your own that would be lovely as well.

You could even choose another Bird? It doesn’t have to be a Kookaburra.
